The Foundation guys were at the lot today putting up the forms for the foundation walls. The picture below is of the two Front bumpouts and the front door.
The picture below is of the back walls - Much of it is going to be walkout.

Today there was alot of backfilling of the frost walls.

Joe D also worked to start building up the grade around the foundation so the cement trucks will be high enough to empty their loads. Joe also finished graveling the cellar, it is now ready for the slab to be poured.

Looks like we may have made the police log again, as well as the front lot.

7:18 am A caller on West Elm Street complained that a construction company across the street had left a portable toilet in sight for the workers. Some one had moved it up against her garage door and when she opened the door it fell over. The company was called to remove it.

The form guys were at the lot early in the AM to pull the forms from the frost walls. Add ImageI tried my hand at helping Joe D by driving the Skid Steer. I wasn't good. Luckily we don't have any footage of that.

Today the foundation guys stripped the footing forms and framed and poured the frost walls for the walkout portion of our basement.

Today the house is actually starting to be built. The form guys were there early in the morning to start laying the footings. It looked like we may be off to a bad start as one of the form trucks got stuck in the leaching field. Joe D pulled him out quickly.
Didn't take the form guys long to set all of the Footing Forms.By lunchtime the first Cement trucks were showing up at the site. The Leach Field is getting close to being filled.

More work was done preparing the base of the cellar hole for the pouring of the footings on Thursday. Joe D built up a 3' base of 6" stone and then topped it off with smaller gravel.

The leach field is almost filled with sewer gravel and the area in front of the foundation is starting to approach finish grade.

Today Joe brought in more structural fill, more sewer gravel, and 6" stone for the base of the foundation. He also brought in a vibratory roller to compact the stone. He had me run the roller after work. Below is a picture of my new Wheel, and joe's newest truck.

A lot of work was done today to create the base for our eventual driveway. Truckloads of structural fill have been brought in to create the base as well as some ramps for the Gravel trucks and Cement trucks so they can get to the cellar hole.

Here are some picture that show just how high out of the ground the house is actually going to sit. We will need to bring in alot of fill so it doesn't appear this way, but in reality it is really high relative to the original grade of the land. The red and white stick indicates the top of the foundation wall.

Front Wall

Back Wall On Saturday Joe D dug out our leaching field with the help of little Joe. Joe got his opportunity to drive the excavator. (or as Joe would call it "backhoe") Unfortunatly we didn't get any pictures.

Below is the excavation for the leaching field.

Little Joe also did some inspection of the cellar hole.

The picture below show a rough outline of the house on the cellar hole.

Most of the cellar hole is dug. We just need to close on some issues of how we want to build the foundation. It is really becoming evident how much our foundation is above the ground. We are going to need tons of dirt. Hopefully we will be pouring footings in a week or two.

Lots of work is going on to dig out the cellar hole. The right side of the house is being built on the exisiting ground level so we need to build up the land in front of it quite a bit if we want to have a level front yard.
